Editorial policy
Local News Analysis aims to make local stories easier to understand without overstating what is known. Our standards apply to explanations, contributions and material created with partners.
Accuracy and context
We check names of documents, quoted wording and descriptions against the material available to us before publication. We keep claims attached to their source and include context needed to understand them. When evidence is incomplete, conflicting or unclear, we say so. We do not claim that an explanation settles a matter that the underlying record leaves open.
Independence
Editorial decisions, including topic choice, wording and conclusions, remain separate from commercial arrangements. A partner does not receive control over independent coverage in return for a placement or collaboration.
Corrections
If a published article contains an error, readers can contact us with the article subject, the passage concerned and supporting context. We review the concern, correct material errors and make the change clear where appropriate. We distinguish a factual correction from a disagreement about interpretation.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, supplied or jointly produced material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Partner placements are identified as such. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that is the case, the illustration is labelled. Images are not presented as documentary evidence unless they are.
